WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT?

There are many definitions for Sustainable Development (SD), but to us it means the following:

"Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

SD is a phrase that is used throughout the world by educators, businesses, governments, and environmental groups to describe the integration of continued economic growth, environmental protection and preservation, and social responsibility.

The goal of SD is to proactively improve the quality of life (e.g. wealth, health, safety, freedom, and education) for all people now, and for future generations. We are willing and believe it is imperative for us to find a way to balance the seemingly competing objectives of environmental stewardship, business and economic growth, and making our community a better place to live and raise our children.
