FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Keith Casey Named Motiva Refinery Manager

March 22, 2004 – (Norco, LA) – A shift in leadership has taken place at Motiva Norco Refining. Keith Casey has assumed the role of Refinery Manager for the Norco facility. Casey is replacing Armand Abay, who has been transferred to Houston to work as the Manufacturing Support Director for Motiva.

“My assignment to the Norco site is a wonderful opportunity,” Casey says. “My first impression of the Refinery and the area is very positive. “There is a real sense of pride and acknowledgement of the importance of Motiva from both employees and the community.  I am honored to join such an organization and committed to building upon the accomplishments and achievements of the past to ensure an even brighter future for all of us.”

Casey’s move to Norco was spurred by the decision to separate the Norco and Convent Refineries, which had been consolidated in 2001 to form the Louisiana Refining Complex.

The decision to return to separate refining entities was made by Motiva Manufacturing Vice President Rudy Goetzee. According to Goetzee, the split would provide greater leadership focus, support and attention to the operational excellence improvement initiatives currently underway.  “The formation of LRC in 2001, has added value through hydrocarbon and contacting synergies, and the exchange of best practices and work processes,” commented Goetzee.

Casey is a native of Central California and the son of a wine grape farmer, Casey previously served as Director, Refinery of the Future, and has also held positions as Production Manager in Port Arthur, Texas and Reliability & Maintenance Manager at Motiva’s Los Angeles site.

Casey holds a B.S. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  He and his wife are the parents of three children, 10, seven and six-years-old.
