December 12, 2001 – (Norco, LA) Motiva Norco Refining has five million more reasons to celebrate this holiday season. On Friday, December 7^th, Motiva Norco Refining reached a milestone of five million safe work hours without a lost time injury or illness.

Achieving such a milestone shows that Motiva employees are committed to safety and have made it their top priority.

Motiva Refinery Manager Allen Kirkley says this achievement is tremendous and is confident that his employees will keep the record going.

"The last few months have brought distractions and challenges to us all. Amid all of these distractions, we have continued to work safely without a disabling injury or illness," said Kirkley. "I am confident that we all will stay focused on solid safety behavioral principles such as thinking each job through before it begins, watching out for our fellow workers, wearing the proper personal protective equipment and following safe work practices and procedures."

It’s been more than 3 ½ years since Motiva Norco Refining had a lost time injury.
