Fundraiser To Be Held For Two Norco Fire Victims
Motiva Refining And Shell Chemical To Host Event

(Norco, LA) - Motiva Refining and Shell Chemical in Norco have made arrangements for a local group to hold a fundraiser on Friday, June 15, 2001 for Clarance and Ivy Moore of Norco. After approximately 30 years of living in the section of the community known as Diamond, the couple lost everything the morning of May 29, 2001 when a fire tore through their home.

Fortunately, the Moore's and their two grandchildren survived the fire, but their home and all their personal belongings are gone.

"This is a sad situation. They need all the help and all the support they can get," explained neighbor and organizer of the fundraiser Faye Joseph. "We're having a fish fry to try and raise some money for this family, because they could really use it."

The fundraiser is being held from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m at the Norco Employees Club on Wesco Road off of River Road in Norco.

The  remains of Moore's three-bedroom, wood-framed home is located at 54 East Street. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Joseph says she's glad she can turn to her community in the wake of a crisis. "Everybody regardless of race has been so willing to help. It's really wonderful to know you have people you can count on. They really understand what the Moore's are going through right now," said Joseph.

For more information on the fundraiser, please contact Faye Joseph at 764-8246 or Kimberly Windon at 465-6759.
