Women's Business Council Names Motiva Enterprises "Corporation of the Year"

Motiva Corporation of the Year AwardMotiva Enterprises LLC (Norco Refining) received high honors for its work with women owned businesses. The Women’s Business Council (WBC) of Louisiana presented Motiva with the "Corporation of the Year" award at its 2nd Annual Opportunity Fair and Expo at the Hyatt New Orleans.

The Expo and Annual Awards Luncheon are held each year to help promote and increase business opportunities for women-owned businesses and provide qualified suppliers to buyers, while also recognizing companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to women business development, and outstanding WBEs (Women’s Business Enterprises).

The event kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the hotel lobby, just outside the room set aside for the Opportunity Fair and Expo.WBC Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

"This awards luncheon allows us to showcase our organization’s biggest supporters, which includes women-owned businesses and corporations, who have shown their dedication to the WBEs this year," said Blanca Robinson, Executive Director of the Women’s Business Council of Louisiana. "We wouldn’t be here without their hard work and dedication to the organization."

The recipient of this award is nominated and chosen by all WBE members and the corporations who have supported the organization throughout the year. Each member is asked to rank the corporations based on a list of criteria established by the WBC.

"We are honored to have been nominated for this award by two of our local women-owned businesses. It means a great deal to us when our efforts to help advance and enhance business opportunities between women-owned businesses and our corporation are recognized," explained Motiva External Affairs Manager Kimberly Windon. "This award is just one representation of our on-going commitment and dedication to the WBCs."

Other corporate finalists nominated for the Corporation of the Year award included Chevron, Eastman Chemical, Equilon Enterprises LLC/Equiva Services LLC, Jazz Casino Company and Texaco.
