Let's Play - Norco Parks Dedicated
Norco residents and their kids now have a safe place to play, walk, ride bikes, and play ball thanks to a community project sponsored by the Motiva Norco Refinery and Shell Chemical. The Norco Greenbelt Recreational Parks are open and ready for a little fun in the sun.
On March 11, a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting ceremony was held. The ceremony, which marked the completion of a three-year development and construction project, took place at the West Park on the corner of Washington and Cathy Streets. The East Park is located at the corner of Fifth and Goodhope Streets.
Keith Casey, Refinery Manager for Motiva Norco said, "I love the excellent designs and attention to safety in these parks. They are beautiful and represent the kind of work we do and the kind of facilities our communities deserve."
The parks feature playground equipment suited for multiple age groups, ball fields, walking trails, park benches, pavilions and more.
On hand for the dedication were from left to right St. Charles Councilman Ram Ramchandran; Motiva Norco Refinery Plant Manager Keith Casey; St. Charles Parish President Albert Laque; Shell Norco Site Manager Carl Triebel; Henry Smith, representing State Representative Gary Smith; LaMay Group representatives Johnny LaGrone and Bruce LaGrone, and St. Charles Parish Councilman Clayton Faucheux.
